Welcome to the beginning of this journey! Fundamentals of Flavor was created as a resource for people looking to build their kitchen repertoire from basic cooking skills (yes, you too can master the art of cooking eggs) to utilizing the right tools to uncomplicated recipes and easy entertaining.
Some of us have been there. Some of us are still on this adventure. We never stop learning and that is the fun of putting a little time into the kitchen. Food does more than nourish us. It brings out our creativity, our tastes, our willingness to try new things, and gathers people together to enjoy the simple things in the kitchen or at the table.
One of the challenges people face is trying to interpret a recipe built for a crowd or a family when they are only cooking for one or two. This is where Fundamentals of Flavor comes in. Our recipes are not only simple, but created especially for the single person and/or their plus one. Even if you do have a family, there are instances where you might cook separate meals or sides for a picky eater, specific diet or ingredient. Use us a resource no matter what your circumstance. And if you do enjoy our recipes, you could double or triple them for a dinner party. Don’t worry, we won’t tell.
Here’s one more thing. We are obsessed with pop culture and everything that comes with it. Movies. TV shows. Music. Podcasts. You name it. And what is better than cooking? Cooking with something to keep you entertained while you’re waiting for that oven to pre-heat or stirring the risotto (wait until you get to that recipe, yum). So in the spirit of merriment, this calls for a celebration.
