Garlic green beans is a simple side dish that will become a favorite in your repertoire. With only a handful of ingredients, you can create a vegetable side that is full of flavor. We love garlic at Fundamentals of Flavor, so if you are shy with it, take it down to only one clove. If you love garlic more than anything, add more, although, you might not want to make this for a date night. 🙂 It’s time to set the table and get yourself ready for a delicious meal.

Pro Tip
We know garlic can be a pain to chop sometimes. To ease the process, first peel and trim the cloves. Then, use a sharp chef’s knife to make lengthwise cuts followed by crosswise cuts for finely chopped garlic. Optionally, you can enhance the flavor by crushing the garlic with the flat side of the knife before chopping. Or forget it and purchase minced garlic during your next grocery shopping trip. It’s all about options!

Ingredients
Method
- Fill a 2-quart pot with water and bring to a boil. While your pot is on the heat, prep the green beans. Take one bean and snap the stem end off. Bundle up the beans and use that bean as a cutting guide for all your vegetables. Mince the garlic. One the pot comes to a boil, add your green beans and boil for five minutes. The beans should be a vibrant green color and still crisp, not wilted.
- In a small saute pan, add olive oil and bring to medium heat. Transfer the green beans to the pan and make sure to toss so the olive oil is covering all the vegetables. Add the garlic and salt and continue to toss for 3-4 minutes. Serve hot.
